The GigRig G2 Switching System Pre order

Effortless switching. Used by international artists.  Industry standard rig control.

G2 is the most advanced effects pedal board switching system in the world. Born of an obsession for tone, it's beautiful, powerful, compact, and unbelievably simple to use. Most important of all: it has the cleanest, most transparent audio possible. You simply won't believe your tone.

G2 takes true bypass switching to an entirely new level using technology never seen before on a pedal board switcher.

The most important difference is our 'Passive True Bypass Matrix'. This technology guarantees the most direct signal path possible with no loading of your guitar signal. Its truly amazing.

Almost 10 years ago we released the world's first programmable true bypass pedalboard switcher, the Pro14. Every ounce of knowledge that we have gained during that time working with some of the best musicians in the world is now manifest in G2.

G2 is an obsession realised, and we know you're going to love it.

Key Features

  1. 10 Passive True Bypass Matrix effects loops including 2 stereo effects loops means you'll hear your effects like you've never heard them before
  2. Delay spillover between presets, even with your old analog delays
  3. 120 Pre-sets (8 banks of 15) which can each be configured for Pre-set or Stomp Box mode gives you unparalleled flexibility and control
  4. A movable insert to connect your amps' FX loop, Volume Pedal, anything you like, and then place it anywhere in your signal path
  5. Programmable Pre Gain on every pre-set which can buffer, attenuate or boost the input to your effects
  6. Programmable Post Gain giving complete control over the master volume of each pre-set
  7. 2 switchable outputs including an isolated phase reversible OUT2 so you'll have no earth hum or phase issues between your amps
  8.  Milled from stainless steel, our own-designed OptoKick footswitch uses light instead of mechanics to do the foot switching, so there's nothing to break.  We believe these are the most reliable foot switches in the world
  9. Full MIDI in & out so G2 can control or be controlled by external MIDI devices
  10. Zero confusion - unbelievably easy to use

    G2

Posted by Pete Solo on 29th Apr 2020

Having owned G2 now for a week, I have been learning how best to use this before committing it to a board.

I like the way it can be set up in a logical manner, the flexibility of the stomp box mode, the hidden preset (which I’m using for my tuner) and the moveable loop where my volume pedal sits.

I also like to ability of being able to move my loops in whatever order I desire, the pre and post gain circuits and the dual outputs with the phase being programmable per patch.

Not having to negotiate complex sub menus and remembering to save are also brilliant bonuses.

The remote switching is very useful (although personally, I have midi controlled amps).

These remotes can also be used to extend the G2 to add additional loops (although I might not need that for my set up). However, there is the additional flexibility should I decide I need additional pedals later on.

As I will be relying on a lot of midi mapping, (which is somewhat outside the scope of what is offered), I can’t really fault the unit. For those setups, a Third Party dedicated device would be suitable which I have on my list to purchase.

It’s also a shame the G2 is restricted to 3 midi channels but again, I will get round this with the external unit.

Users who won’t need such extensive midi switching will be well covered here.

What would be useful would be to have a small screen above each preset switch where the user could add in their own message.

If this was bank programmable, then G2 would show what the user has named each preset. That eliminates the need for sticking on messages and where these presets could change on another bank, those written messages might not be correct.

Taking this a stage further, perhaps being able to assign a colour, would make that very user friendly and easy to identify quickly.

Finally, I must say something about the service.

GigRig offer excellent after sales service and that is a BIG factor whenever making any purchase.

I am not a big name well known musician (at this time as one never knows what lies in the future), but they spent time going through things with me to help me get the most of what I wanted from their unit.

Well done guys and for people considering this, just buy it - you won’t regret it.

    Just do it

Posted by Unknown on 23rd Apr 2020

I Umm’d and Ah’d for a long time wether this would be worth it. After all you can pick up a guitar or an amp for this sorta money right?............
So I recently pulled the plug and I can now say. JUST DO IT! Pull the trigger. I am so glad I did, it has made everything about my rig simpler clean, quiet, so intuitive. I love it. like true love.

No doubts its probably the best of his kind if not the only one of his kind ..

you cant compare the G2 to other Switchingsystems because there nothing that compete with this innovativ piece of art and craftmanship!

The brains behind the G2 definitly thought about every aspect a musician need to make an board of pedal chaos to one perfect working unit!

    Innoativ and easy to understand!

    Just great work!

    G2

Simply brilliant. May take some (ie people like me...) a little time to get the head around it, but when you do, it's almost impossible to believe something so hi tech can be so simple.

Customer can take a little time to come, but be patient, this isn't Microsoft, but a small company. When it does come, help is given freely and generously. These guys seem to have the patience of Saints. And thats to say nothing of how it sounds - no complaints there, either. This has to be a world beater for guitarists who like a few pedals. Love this thing. Well done, GR.

    G2

Posted by Einar Aarnes on 18th Feb 2019

    Good lord its grate!
It's a no brainer, every guitar or bass player with more than five pedals on the board the G2 should be a mandatory thing.
You don't really need to read the manual, thats awesome.
Okay, I did read the midi bit and the stuff about the Special functions and trails function, but tat was all.
(I'm seeing a stereo bass rig coming on with this one).

Truly exceptional, and for some: essential.

Posted by Malcolm James King on 15th Mar 2018

I originally planned a mono QMX10 pedalboard build, but instead I opted to go for stereo rig, so I bit the bullet and ordered a G2. I also ordered two Evidence Audio cable kits to connect everything up. I can honestly say that within a few minutes of using it I had absolutely no regrets. Yes its an expensive piece of gear, but this thing is worth the investment. There are too many positives to list them in this short review, but the main benefits for me are as follows.

My setup is now very low noise, and having the pre-gain changeable per presets has been a revelation for presets with my compressor included. The G2 is so easy to use and set up, I only had to refer to the manual when setting up MIDI with my Timeline. It can control my Mesa Mk V’s channels, which means I no longer need the monstrously big amp controller. Stomp box mode is brilliant, and for practicing at home has become my main use. For gigs and rehearsals I’ve set up presets, and having multiple changes possible from one footswitch press is brilliant live, and that is probably the best thing about the G2. You can still incorporate the amp’s FX loop, I’ve set up loop 7 to allow this and I’ve got banks set up for using the FX loop and banks for when I’m running straight into the front of an amp. Lastly the stereo outs on loops 9 & 10 which I’ve incorporated into my stereo rig are great.

The only thing I’d have liked that it doesn’t do is the ability to be able to sum the stereo output to mono for when I have to run my pedalboard into a mono rig. I’ve ordered a stereo summing unit from Goodwood Audio for that, but it’d be cool if the G2 had that functionality built in.

To conclude, if you gig with 6 or more pedals or have a noisey pedal board, then I strongly recommend the G2. If like me you use many pedals including MIDI switchable, a stereo rig and have amps the G2 can control, then the G2 is essential.
